Positive update about the Wi-Fi at the #NetworkXAmericas joint conference with the Wireless Broadband Alliance #WGCAmericas. I went over to the Westin Hotel - where the WBA held their member meetings earlier in the week... and a FAR BETTER conference Wi-Fi experience.
First - the OpenRoaming connection JUST WORKED. I walked into the hotel lobby and all my devices with an OpenRoaming profile just automatically joined. Giving me Fast, Free, Frictionless and SECURE Wi-Fi access to the Internet!
Next - the channels were NOT saturated with Channel Utilization down below 12% (compared with above 80% in the conference center - probably caused by their backward archaic punishment of their users by implementing bandwidth throttling)
It IS possible to have great conference Wi-Fi. Really. Just make correct choices.
