As a conference organizer, I do realize the difficulties in bringing great WI-Fi to conference attendees. A lot has to do with the venue you choose. Some locations REQUIRE you to use their infrastructure. Others will allow you to add an overlay network for your conference attendees.
This week I'm attending the #NetworkXAmericas co-located with the WGA's #WGCAmericas at the Los Colinas Conference Center.
The room we happen to be in has fewer than 150 attendees - and yet the Wi-Fi experience is sub-par.
It looks like the conference center is delivering the Wi-Fi for conference attendees, using Cisco/Meraki gear. They do have a decent channel plan, using 20MHz channels.
But the channels are quite congested - with not a lot of headroom available.
There are NO 6GHz channels available on this version of hardware. So even though this is an event where most folks will have the latest and greatest phones and laptops, none are able to access this extra 1,200 MHz of spectrum.
