WLPC Phoenix is just weeks away. Thanks again to the community for contributing another great lineup.
Wi-Fi 7 is clearly a high-interest topic — just looking at the 30-minute sessions (the presentations that got the most votes), three are directly on Wi-Fi 7:
- Wi-Fi 7 Lab Findings: Security Changes That Impact Endpoint Behavior — Jennifer Minella
- Wi-Fi 7 in Large Public Venues — Jim Florwick
- Design and Deployment of Wi-Fi 7 Networks — Wes Purvis
Here's the full 30-minute lineup:
- Automating Wi-Fi Validation with No-Code Tools — François Vergès
- Design and Deployment of Wi-Fi 7 Networks — Wes Purvis
- How to Fix Your Wi-Fi — Peter Mackenzie
- Indoor Location Update: Wi-Fi vs. BLE vs. UWB — Bob Friday
- Wi-Fi - Have We Been Getting It All Wrong? — Robert Boardman
- Wi-Fi 7 Lab Findings: Security Changes That Impact Endpoint Behavior — Jennifer Minella
- Wi-Fi 7 in Large Public Venues — Jim Florwick
- Wi-Fi's Silent Broadcast Channel: Why 802.11bc Is the Most Disruptive Standard You Haven't Read Yet — David Coleman
- WPA3-Personal Deployment Challenges — Rasika Nayanajith
The Wes Perspective: What's in store?
In Prague this past October, Wes asked the question: Is Wi-Fi 7 Worth It? He pulled early adoption data from the Mist cloud.
His take: the features are interesting, but the real value is the spectrum.
"Wi-Fi 7 is cool, 6 GHz is cooler."
He was candid about certain MLO implementations — pairing 2.4 GHz with 6 GHz — calling it "the biggest farce of Wi-Fi 7."
On WPA3: 50% of associations are still WPA2 personal, only 1% WPA3. But when WPA3 is enabled, 99% of clients connect fine. The barrier is perception, not compatibility.

His upcoming presentation is Design and Deployment of Wi-Fi 7 Networks — where he's moving from "is it worth it" into actual implementation. It'll be interesting to see the progression and what new data he has since October.
If you can't join us, all the presentations will be available on YouTube as always. But there's nothing quite like being there — asking questions, meeting other professionals, building relationships.
We'd love to have you.
Right now registration is showing closed. We've hit our limit of available spots at the hotel, but are working on getting more rooms opened up. If you're still hoping to attend, reach out to matthew@wlanpros.com and we will work to get you there.
